Trams in the rain

Catching a tram at Flinder Street Station at night
Just add water, and the image becomes so different. Melbourne is a city of constantly changing weather which is great for creating interesting weather patterns for taking photographs in. Its great for night shots of urban life and the city, when all of a sudden, everything comes alive on so many different levels. This shot was taken on a balmy summer night after several hot days.
The city had a welcome cool change come through that brought both the soaring mercury levels and the a gentle shower down leaving the city’s streets to reflect the lights of the traffic passing by. When subjected to the correct exposures, the reflections of subjects offer an interesting perspective on how familiar surroundings look so different.
