The Mughals came from Persia and were of Islamic faith. When they migrated to India, they brought their faith with them. As they became more powerful, they built their fortified cities, and within them, they built their places of worship. The Moti Mahal is made of white marble and is tucked away in a quiet little corner of the fort… so quiet, that one may be forgiven for walking right past it. These mosques are still in use today. Visitors are expected to leave their shoes outside. They are often the quietest of spots that one can visit in the many tourist attractions of India and offer a lovely atmosphere for a little reflection.
