Descent to the edge of the world

It is one of the my favourite locations to visit on a lazy summers’ day here in Victoria – Cape Schanck is the edge of the Australian mainland continent. Beyond this point are King Island, and Tasmania before the next major landfall… Antarctica. The weather here is consistently fickle. You will need to dress for all seasons when visiting here.

The pathway here is the paved walkway that will take you to the edge of Pebble Beach to the left, and the Pulpit Rock on the right. A gentle enough walk that can take anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes depending on how fit you are, and how fast you want to go. If you’re a photographer, this location beckons for an early morning shoot for Pulpit Rock, and an afternoon/evening shoot for pebble beach. If you’re just here for pleasure, consider visiting the lighthouse nearby, walking the many walking trails, or driving through the rest of the Mornington Peninsula.

Cape Schanck is a national park and has proper toilet facilities, if you’re planning on camping overnight in your vehicle here. Unfortunately, no dogs allowed (even in cars).
