My memories of this image are somewhat bittersweet – this was shot on the Tasman trail at Mount Cook National Park a few September’s ago. Now, I really had done absolutely no planning when I travelled to New Zealand in 2009. I pretty much rocked up with cameras in a backpack (at the time, a Canon 350D and a Canon 1000D), rented a car, and drove into the great wide open. I happened to chance upon Mount Cook National Park, and decided to brave this trail - in spite of my history of having a dodgy ankle and all – and sure enough, ended up rolling it (rather badly at that) while hiking this particular trail. The takeaway from it was a glimpse of the Tasman glacier – and the resolve to return another day.
